If you’re a parent who isn’t quite sure how to brush your child’s smile, Dr. Robert Haas and our dental team are more than happy to help you!
Oral hygiene at a young age is extremely important, which is why we are more than willing to give you the following tooth-brushing instructions:
–Step 1: Angle the child-sized, soft-bristled toothbrush at a 45-degree angle toward the gums of the upper and lower teeth. Make sure there is a pea-sized amount of toothpaste on the brush.
–Step 2: Move the brush gently in a back-and-forth motion with short strokes along the front and back surfaces of the teeth.
–Step 3: To clean the insides of the front teeth, tilt the toothbrush in an upright position and use the tip to clean the surfaces. By doing this, you should be able to reach behind the front teeth on the top and bottom jaws.
–Step 4: After you are done brushing the teeth, make sure you brush your child’s tongue to remove the bacteria that reside there.
If you follow these four steps twice a day, your child will have the healthy and beautiful smile they deserve.
